METAX – what we stand for
METAX was founded in 1985 and is a family-run company. A high level of technical expertise and many years of experience with a strong team of engineers make us a recognized partner in technology.
Our focus is on rotary sealing for machines in plant engineering and process technology. This specialization enables us to provide expert advice to our customers from a wide range of industries.
Our main products are application-specific designs of mechanical seals and associated supply systems, as well as other sealing technologies. In addition, we implement digitization projects with unique sensory condition monitoring of the lubricating film in the mechanical seal, which makes an important contribution to preventive maintenance. Our in-house production and warehouse at our location enable us to achieve the highest level of quality and service.

How we became what we are
The foundation stone for our company was laid in Schöneck in 1985. Since 1993, we have been welcoming our customers to our modern premises in Hungen-Obbornhofen, which were expanded in 2008 with the addition of a spacious new building.
At our company headquarters, we operate a state-of-the-art mechanical production facility, have high-precision measurement and analysis technology in the field of core technologies for our products, and maintain an extensive warehouse for fast and on-time delivery to our customers.
This is complemented by a strong engineering and technical team in our own design department.
The METAX team is responsible for the design, product configuration, manufacturing and assembly of customer-specific solutions in sealing technology.
In the early years, the product portfolio mainly comprised the two core products that are still reflected in our name today:
- mechanical seals and
- all-steel membrane couplings
Over the last three decades, our customer base has continued to grow in a wide variety of industries and with it the demands on our range of services. While couplings have increasingly become a by-product, our product portfolio has been expanded to include the following product groups, for example:

- Lip seal systems
- Flange sealing systems
- Life loaded seals
- Technical maintenance products
With the latest addition to our product portfolio, we are combining our core product, the mechanical seal, with state-of-the-art sensor technology. Our pump monitoring system enables us to meet the requirements of the present and the future and provides the basis for our customers to enter the digital age with their systems.
